Growth naturally requires us to endure discomfort. As human beings, we tend to stay comfortable in autopilot, unaware or afraid of what else could be if we were to operate differently. Some individuals undergo circumstances that “forces” them to look at the world, themselves and their relationship to others differently while some have a moment of clarity and consciously decide to improve their life. After seeing how hard my parents worked every day never taking a vacation for themselves only to receive just enough for our basic needs, I knew I could never live like that. I consider this the safe route most individuals make because of all the uncertainly that pursuing our own ambition, talents, and dreams comes with. Every perspective is enacted, meaning you must do something to see something and by selling chips and candy at 14, I saw that money could be made by thinking differently and without clocking in. I’m here to share with you how I was able to overcome those obstacles and demonstrate the power of perspective.
First, we must understand what perspective is and how it relates to ambition. Perspective is taking the time to understand what the world looks like from another person’s point of view, interpreting a situation and reacting to said situation accordingly. If we never develop the ability to empathize or understand, we may never get any returning clients or customers. Artists tend to stick to one discipline, either an oil painter or acrylics, sometimes creating a false sense of superiority because they “specialize” in this or that. If artists from multiple disciplines came together and shared with one another their work, isn’t it possible that a collaboration or admiration towards another type of artistry could emerge? Well, as someone who expresses their creativity in various disciplines, I’ve come to understand multiple perspectives and seen how integrating different points of views affect both my life and my career.
No person is designed the same way, yet, we must learn over time how to accept those who may look, think or believe differently than our own. To let go of the idea that my perspective is the only way, the right way should be the first thing people do if they want to journey towards the unknown path. Openness is essential as it has allowed us to create a company that goes beyond content and merchandise but to inspire a community of creatives by providing examples of accomplished innovators so they can see what’s possible. A lifestyle that is consciously created and tailored to our unique self. Creativity is something not taught formally in school and educates kids on how to follow rules, memorize and regurgitate information and punishes those who want to do things differently even if the answer is the same.
